the winners, printed in Warped Space #49

From Boldly Writing: "The Fan Q's were divided into the interest categories of Star Trek, Star Wars, Starsky and Hutch, Doctor Who and Other... Former Star Trek writers winning in non-Star Trek categories included Anne Elizabeth Zeek, Paula Smith and Connie Faddis."

History of the FanQ as listed in the 1985 Mediawest Progress report 1:

At MediaWestCon III in 1983, a category was added for Best Poet/Filker, and STARSKY & HUTCH and DOCTOR WHO had strong enough support to generate separate categories for themselves. This interest dwindled in 1984 at MediaestCon IV, and nominations for the latter two fandoms returned to the OTHER MEDIA fold.

Note: a 1986 ad for the zine Alien Brothers states that Loveslaves by D. Campion was a "Best Story Nomination," that the "4-color art by Gayle F won a Best Art Award," and that the entire zine was a "Best Zine Nomination." They do not appear on the 1985 FanQ ballot (see image)

Note: 4 Star Trek zines were nominated that year - Mind Meld, Nuages, Vault of Tomorrow #6, and Compleat Faulwell. The last title was struck out on the 1986 FanQ ballot:

You may have noted that under BEST STAR TREK ZINE, COMPLEAT FAULWELL/LANDING PARTY 6, VOL. 2 was "x'ed" out. This is because it was edited by Gordon and published by T'Kuhtian Press. Since we also chair this convention and since Lori received and tabulated Fan Q nominations, we decided to avoid any conflict of interest by withdrawing the zine.

Note:Cat Tales won in an unknown category; the author stated in 1999 that this was the first time a slash novel had won a Fan Q. This may have happened in another year [1]
