Nancy Kippax was a beloved member of Star Trek fandom for over thirty years. She passed away on September 20, 2008[1].

See A 2007 Interview with Nancy Kippax.

She worked to put on lots of conventions. She co-chaired the Spectrum, a mixed media con that ran for several years in the mid-90s, with April Valentine and put on "the original K/S con"[2] from 1980 to 1986. She was a member of the concomm for every year of ConneXions. She was a founding member of the Clippercon committee from which Farpoint) eventually developed. She ran the dealers room, worked the orphan zine table, and coordinated volunteers.

She edited a ton of zines, including Contact (with her sister, Bev Volker) from 1975 to 1987. She also wrote in Kiefer/Lou fandom, Queer as Folk and put out two issues of a gen Simon and Simon zine in the late '80s.

During the last year of her life, Nancy posted to Livejournal about her memories of fandom in the 1970s and 1980s, so those stories wouldn't be forgotten:

In short, what I would like to use this journal for is to reminisce about my early days in fandom, the 70s and 80s and up. I'd like to give others a chance to post their memories as well. I want to hear from any and all of the other dinosaurs out there; with no particular path or plot, let's just meander down memory lane together. I think some of the newer fans will enjoy hearing our tales, too, so I hope they feel free to jump in at any time with a question or to relate something that they've been told.[3]

These memories have been collected here on fanlore with the permission of April Valentine under the title Reminisce With Me.
