Nicholas Armstrong, known online as Sapnap, is an American Minecraft streamer and founding member of the Dream SMP and part of the Dream Team along with Dream and GeorgeNotFound. He's also known as one of the hunters in Dream's Minecraft Manhunt series, being the third hunter added after GeorgeNotFound and BadBoyHalo. He's co-owner of NRG Esports since 2022. Born in Texas on March 1, 2001, Sapnap moved to Florida to live with Dream in January 2021.

He uploaded his first video to YouTube on Oct 20, 2019. He is known for being a competitive Minecraft player who often ranks highly in MCC events. He also competed in and won the second Spanish-organized Squid Craft Games in March 2023.

He, GeorgeNotFound and Karl Jacobs used to host a podcast called Banter.

His username was thought up by Dream and is "pandas" backwards, but with the d replaced by a p since sadnap was taken. His original MC in game name was "PandasCanPVP". Dream and him met on McPVP around 2012 or 2013 and have been friends ever since. He met GeorgeNotFound through Dream on MunchyMC and went to the UK to visit him in March 2022, before George moved to the United States to live with Sapnap and Dream. Dream said one of the reasons for Sapnap moving in with him was so Sapnap could answer the door when the police came, as Dream was being swatted almost daily at that point, to help avoid the previously faceless streamer from having his face unwillingly revealed to the public.

In online play Sapnap is known to be loud, to have a bit of a short fuse, and to like streaming music through his mic, actions that can sometimes annoy his fellow content creators.

Controversies

Joining Kick

Sapnap signed a contract to begin streaming on Kick in August 2023. Kick, having looser policies against hate speech, sexual and violent content and the like, was considered a streaming site that hosted and promoted bigoted far right views, which made people question why Sapnap would join it.

Defenders try to both sides it by saying Twitch is just the same as Kick, just kept more hidden, or say that Sapnap is only doing it for the money and doesn't share the same shocking values as the popular Kick streamers.

Character

Dream SMP

Sapnap's character is human but often headcanoned by fans to be part demon (or part blaze, or similar), as Sapnap has said he was found in the nether, as well as having a flame motif as part of his branding. BadBoyHalo is said to be his adoptive father. This headcanon became canon by fans repeatedly telling both Sapnap and Bad that the other had confirmed the relationship when they hadn't, causing them to finally concede to it since they thought the other already had.

Sapnap became engaged to both Karl Jacobs and Quackity at the same time but they never married.

Sapnap is known for violent and aggressive, but also protective of his most loved ones. He fought in every major conflict on the server and is known for killing other members' pets, and starting all three Pet Wars. He also helped start the Disc War by accidentally burning Ponk's Lemon Tree down, causing Ponk and Alyssa to burn Sapnap's house down in revenge, leading to Sapnap repeatedly killing them with TommyInnit until Dream stepped in to take Tommy's discs. He helped found Kinoko Kingdom with George and Karl. Karl, due to his time traveling, ended up forgetting Quackity which lead to conflict between the fiancés. After Dream's escape from prison, Dream threatened to destroy Kinoko Kingdom unless Sapnap returned his armor and weapons, which Sapnap refused to do. While hunting for Dream, Sapnap found the Book of Death and met DreamXD, who unsuccessfully tried to get Sapnap to kill BadBoyHalo.

Both FPF and RPF works featuring Sapnap are common.

He is most commonly included as part of the Dream Team in fanworks. He's also part of the Manhunters, Muffinteers, Sex Havers and Feral Boys groups.

Sapnap's most popular romantic ship is Karlnap, both as a FPF and popular RPF ship. His Dream SMP poly relationship with his fiancés Quackity and Karl Jacobs, known as Karlnapity or FianceTrio, is also popular, with Quacknap by itself being less common.

Romantic shipping of the Dream Team, known as DreamNotNap, is also common, with Dreamnap and Georgenap being the composite pairings.

His relationship with his Dream SMP father, BadBoyHalo, is occasionally touched on in fanworks, rarely referred to as either Badnap, SapHalo or SapBoyHalo. Notably, Sapnap has said the only person he doesn't want to be romantically shipped with is BadBoyHalo, making it taboo to ship them, although it would have been a rare ship regardless due to the popularity of Sapnap's other ships.
