Lunch Club was a group of Twitch streamers and a podcast of the same name, made of several members of the Minecraft server SMPLive in mid 2019. It was popular for the year it was active, but both the fandom and the group itself were plagued with controversy, and in March 2020, the group had ceased operations.
Background
Lunch Club was initially formed as Goopcast, being a merger of CallMeCarson and R1vster's podcast "UnZIPPED" and cscoop and Joko's podcast "A.S.S.". Despite this, R1vster and Joko would not be official members of the group, which caused some controversy among fans at the time, particularly fans of Joko, who believed this to be unfair.
The group consisted of CallMeCarson, cscoop, traves, Hugbox, jschlatt, Slimecicle and Ted Nivison.
The group ceased operation in March 2020 and was officially dissolved in November 2020 due to allegations made against CallMeCarson being brought to light by traves and Hugbox on KEEMSTAR's "Drama Alert".
Fandom
Lunch Club fandom was a mixture of stan culture and a typical RPF fandom, and was often conflated with SMPLive fandom due to its close ties to the server.
However, Lunch Club fandom would largely fade into obscurity following the group's demise, while SMPLive fandom is still somewhat active, albeit much smaller than it was before.
The fandom and creators' close proximity to each other resulted in controversy, as some creators were particularly uncomfortable with certain types of fan behavior and fanworks. This would culminate in CallMeCarson's "Serious Stream", which would lead to the creation of the Tumblr blog smp-boundaries.
AUs were popular in the fandom during its height, such as the Punch Club AU and OFFSchlatt (the latter being a crossover with the game OFF).
