The Life Series often involves characters making various alliances across seasons and arcs, and many fans will use those faction names in place of relationship names. Similar to other duo names in MCYT fandom, many group names are ambiguous and can refer to both platonic or romantic groupings.
Due to the overlapping casts, many of these ship names also apply to the Hermitcraft SMP and Empires SMP fandoms.
Duo and Faction Names
Often duo names are platonic, but some may primarily refer to romantic relationships. For example, Flower Husbands is a primarily romantic duo name. These names may refer to the characters' having a platonic, queerplatonic, romantic, or intentionally ambiguous relationship. Many duo names are based on the in-universe names alliances taken on during the series.

Portmanteau Ship Names
Often portmanteau ship names are romantic, but sometimes fans will use them to refer to platonic, queerplatonic, or intentionally ambiguous relationships. Fans will often use "/p" or other tone tags to indicate when an otherwise romantic ship name is being used platonically. "Can be read as /r or /p" may be used to indicate a ship's status being ambiguous and open to interpretation.
