GeminiTay is the name of a Minecraft YouTuber, as well as a name for several "roleplay" characters she plays (see the article C!), who is known for her Minecraft building tutorials and gameplay on several SMPs, namely Hermitcraft SMP, the Life SMP Series and Empires SMP.
Fandom
Gem joined Hermitcraft in season 8, in which she built a Woodland Palace. In season 9 she based together with PearlescentMoon and ImpulseSV, forming the "Soup Group," and together they led a rebellion against King Ren. She built a large elven palace and village. Due to this, she was often depicted in a woodland dress and either with antlers or wearing antler headgear, and sometimes as a deer hybrid.
On Empires SMP season 1 Gem played a wizard, and in season 9 the princess of the Sunrise Kingdom. During the time of the Hermitcraft/Empires crossover event she was a member of two servers, which led to the reveal that her character can cross between the servers at will and is essentially "LARPing" on Empires for fun.
After season 9, Gem stated that while she did not hate being depicted as a deer, she felt it trapped her in a "cottagecore sized box", and she planned to ask not to be depicted as a deer in season 10.[1] Her season 10 base is a fishing village based on the horror game Dredge, and her Minecraft skin is that of a sea captain (and sometimes that of a mad scientist who studies an Etho clone in her basement.) As she had hoped, this character change was quickly accepted and adapted to by large parts of the fandom.
Gem joined the Life Series SMP during Secret Life (after she had a brief cameo substituting for Cleo during Limited Life.) During one episode she got the assignment to start a "zombie apocalypse," and she also got several other kills, ultimately finishing third. Unfortunately she received so many complaints from parts of the fanbase that she temporarily disabled comments on her final episode.[2] She later said that she had misjudged audience expectations for the series. During Wild Life she took a more peaceful approach. While she did not end up getting a single kill, her teammate Joel won the series.
Popular Pairings
A very popular pairing is GeminiTay/PearlescentMoon, also called "shinyduo." They frequently interact and/or flirt on Hermitcraft and had very dramatic interactions during Secret and Wild Life.
Gem is a self-professed Ethogirl. After they started interacting more during Decked Out 2, Gem/Etho became more popular as a pairing, including as an RPF ship.
