Evolution SMP was a private Minecraft survival multiplayer (SMP) server. It was created by Grian on October 2nd 2017. The main premise of the server is that players start out in Minecraft Beta 1.2_02 and would 'evolve' to newer versions by going through an in-game portal put there by the Watchers.

History

Grian made it as his first SMP.

The server started with 9 people with Taurtis joining a month in, and Pearl six months in.

Fanon

Watchers

The Watchers, and Listeners, concept originated from Evo and has since been incorporated by fans, and some members of the servers, into other series most notably the Life Series. It's more common for Evo fanworks to focus on the Watchers and include crossovers to related servers such as the Life Series or Hermitcraft. Watcher Grian is especially popular as when he left the server, his character joined the Watchers.
