Karmaland is a Spanish-language web series which takes place on a private SMP Minecraft server. The fandom is based around the Twitch streams and YouTube videos of the in-game roleplay acted out by the streamers and YouTubers invited to the server. So far the series has had five seasons, each one with a different cast of participants and characters.

The popularity of this series has inspired others, such as Tortillaland and Chafaland.

Canon

This series currently has five seasons. Although sometimes there can be more or be less members, they are usually always the same. The duration of each season differs, but they last at least more than five months.

The admins of the server are referred as "gods", sometimes being an important part of the lore.

Karmaland

Started on July 2014, ended on July 2015.

This was the first season that had more than five members. It was also the season that did not have a season finale, but it was the one that caused the most commotion in the fandom.

Started on July 2022, not finished yet.

This season's announcement was a big event, revealing the members with a specific alphabet letter. In the end all the letters together formed the word "Karmaland V".

Fandom

Fandom for Karmaland is fanart and animatic heavy, specially in social media such as Twitter, Facebook and YouTube, and the vast majority of content is about the ships that the members of the series encourage not explicitly but with their interactions in the roleplay. Fandom of course produce a lot of fanfic too, with 12.2k of stories on Wattpad.

The depictions of the members on fanfic and fanart is always, or tends to be, a depiction of their Minecraft skins. This because the fandom separates the characters being played from the streamer. The fans have many ways to avoid the streamers to end up looking at the fanworks or the discussion of meta, since the fans don't want to make the streamers uncomfortable. One way is using the prefix c! (that stands for character) or k! (that stands for Karmaland) on the streamers nickname. Other way is censoring the names omitting letters or putting graphical accents: Luzu becomes Lzu and Quackity becomes Qckity. This also apply for shipping names, Luckity becomes Lckty. Many fans also refer to the characters, in general, as "cubos" or "cubitos" (cubes, little cubes).

what they are doing is just using the # luckity in the fanarts, but if we abbreviate it (cut "lckty") it is more difficult for other people who do not know the ship to search for it like that

Many fans don't consider themselves part of the RPF fandom and let clear when someone bring up the discussion of boundaries that what they ship or discuss is always the characters the streamers play and not the person.

I hope there are no crazy people who go to lzu's or qckity's chat to do what max0 said or mix irl with role, because honestly it would be mixing things that are no related

• [ES] Out of Time, in AO3, by Anonymous. Crossover story in which the Dream SMP's character Wilbur Soot travels to Karmaland to try and bring back Quackity, who during the story gets tangled in a Friends to Lovers arc with Luzu.
