Hello, I am Geoff Allshorn, and I live in Melbourne, Australia. I have been involved in various forms of fandom for over fifty years, but I am probably best known as the founder of the Star Trek club, Austrek. My fannish activities have introduced me to many wonderful people who are full of creativity, compassion, activist leanings, and leadership. The fan community has been accepting and welcoming of diversity for decades, long before the mundane world caught up. I have been privileged to know people who became my lifelong friends and/or mentors, and others who met their future spouses within fandom or who remarked to me how Austrek literally saved their lives. Outside of SF, I have been a school teacher for over 25 years, and my other hobbies have included involvement in human rights activism for over 40 years - which I consider to be not coincidentally aligned with my passion for utopian science fiction. My recent involvement with Fanlore has enabled me to contribute the history of notable friends (and their activities) who should not be lost to history.

Pick your brain?
GeoffA, does this ring any bells? It mentions a Brisbane con, early 1990s, maybe even late 1980s: https://fanlore.org/wiki/List_of_Blake%27s_7_Early_Songvids#Transfinite Mrs. Potato Head 22:27, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Mrs. Potato Head, I do know someone who would have been involved with that fandom in that place and time, but I asked her and she knows nothing about the vid in question. Sorry. I will ask around if I can. GeoffA (talk) 05:31, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you, GeoffA, for asking your friend. :-) Mrs. Potato Head 23:08, 9 December 2024 (UTC)
