**STAR TREK ASSOCIATION OF FANS AND FRIENDS**Honorary members: Gene and Majel Roddenberry, Susan Sackett, Diane Marchant
An officially recognised fan club
Let me introduce you to our club. STAFF was formed by John Walker in November 1976. Since then we have grown to a situation where we can offer our members a number of club activities and can supply a lot of up-to-date Star Trek information direct from the USA.
To date we publish a regular club newsletter approximately every six weeks, a general information bulletin every second month, and a fanzine (fans' magazine of S.T. stories, poetry, artwork) every year. STAFF runs a literary competition yearly for our members' entries - the winners receiving S.T. prizes and having their work go into our fanzine. We can supply you with overseas or Australian penpals, we run a swap column in our newsletters where you can swap, sell or buy S.T. items from other fans. We continually run other contests our members may enter, often for S.T. prizes, and we encourage you to be a part of our activities![1]
QUEST
The group later became known as "Queensland Star Trekkers", with a regular newsletter, "Log of the U.S.S. Quest".
As the renamed "Quest" in 1982, members of a sub-committee began holding annual Conquest conventions. The Star Trek club and the multimedia conventions separated further in later years, with the conventions often being run by different elected groups.
The club is mentioned in National Library of Australia's history of Star Trek Fandom in Australia.
