Trek Hillbillies is a filk song, authors unknown. A handwritten version of the filk song was found among Katharine Scarritt's papers after she passed. The song riffs on the 1960s TV shows, The Beverly Hillbillies (page one), and Green Acres (page two).

[Narrator]

Come listen to a story about a man named Spock

His physical appearance gave the network quite a shock

Slanted eyebrows had him looking pretty mean

And the jolly green giant was never so green

Vulcan that is
Logical
Get the airbrush...

Come listen to a story ‘bout a man named Kirk

He lived on a farm so he did a farmer’s work

Then one day he was hackin' at some wheat

He said "Heck with this I'm joining Starfleet"

Federation, that is
Uniforms
Roasting Klingons

So he went downtown, filled out a questionnaire

And Starfleet said, "Jim move away from there”

They said "California is the place you ought to be "

So he packed up his bag and went to the Academy

San Francisco, that is

Street cars
Rice-A-Roni
Dry docks

[Kirk]

Federation is the place to be

Star trekkin' is the life for me

Star spreadin' out across the skies

Keep your desk job, give me the Enterprise

[Dr McCoy]

Atlanta's where I'd rather stay

There's no mint julips in the damn Sickbay

I just adore a front porch view

Beam me up home I’ll leave the Trekkin' to you

[Kirk and Dr McCoy alternating]

The stars!

The bars!

Long hauls!

House calls!

I need a doc!

5 more years of Spock!
Get ready for free fall
