This is a WIP and is still in draft format.

Although permission is not required to include images of fan art on Fanlore (see Can I upload copyrighted images without permission?), some fan artists and fanzine publishers have given permission, much of it blanket permission, for the fan art they created or published to be included on Fanlore.

This page offers instructions on how to record the permission when uploading a new image along with listing artists and fanzine publishers who have already given permission.

All images remain subject to Fanlore’s Image and other Policies and may be subject to review. The use of "Permission" on an image upload template is meant to document the permission status as reported to Fanlore.

How to add permission notices to image pages

Fan Artists– In the case of fan artists, change the Copyright field on the Image Template to "Permission". Also, if the artist has a fan page, add this note there: "Art has been uploaded to Fanlore with the artist’s permission." Return to this page and add the artist’s name to the Permissions List (see the section below).

Fanzine Publishers – in the case of fanzine publishers, add a note about their permission in the Copyright field (see text below for sample wording) and add a note to both the fanzine page as well as the fanzine publisher’s page: "Art has been uploaded to Fanlore with the publisher’s permission." Return to this page and add the publisher’s name to the Permissions List (see the section below).
