Art Nouveau is a style of visual art, architecture, and design that emerged in late Victorian era and flourished through the first two decades of the 20th century. The movement was characterized by ornate, elegant, stylized figures and flower motifs.

Fanart sometimes replicates the aesthetics and imagery associated with Art Nouveau. This may take the form of entirely original pieces, or imitations of known works by familiar artists such as Alphonse Mucha, Gustav Klimt, or Aubrey Beardsley.

Early zines sometimes used decorative Art Nouveau clip art and borders taken from Dover Publications books.
