Storyteller: A Genshin Impact Coloringbook Zine is a for-profit, SFW, coloringbook zine inspired by the 2D animated storytelling cutscenes from Genshin Impact. The style of the 2D animations draw influences from the Art Nouveau style of art and design, and so the style of the zine will as well.

The zine is roughly 80 pages including the front and back cover. The 78 interior pages feature black and white lineart with short writing pieces that complement the art on the opposite page.

The project was announced on Twitter on March 22, 2021. The interest check ran from March 30, 2021 to April 13, 2021. Mod applications ran from April 24, 2021 to May 8, 2021. Contributor applications ran from June 3-24, 2021, garnering 222 total applications.

Starting in April 2021 and running through July 2021, the zine Twitter ran a series of polls asking which of three Genshin characters is most likely to do a given action, as a promotion. During the creation period, the organizers also made a "Which Genshin Impact Book Are You?" quiz on Uquiz and two Choose Your Own Adventure games hosted on Carrd. The first, Adventures of Alberich, featured the character Kaeya, while the second, Wish Upon a Lantern (Rite) featured the character Xiao.

Preorders for the zine opened January 19, 2022 with a planned end date of March 1, 2022, which was later extended to March 31, 2022. The following pricing tiers were offered:

• Ballads of Mondstadt Bundle ($40 USD): Physical Zine + 1 Charm + 1 Sticker + Tracing Paper + Foil Adhesives
• Tales of Liyue Bundle ($50 USD): Physical Zine + 2 Charms + 2 Stickers + Tracing Paper + Foil Adhesives + 1 Print + 1 Sticker Sheet
• Legends of Inazuma Bundle ($60 USD): Physical Zine + 3 Charms + 3 Stickers + Tracing Paper + Foil Adhesives + 2 Prints + 2 Sticker Sheets + Foil Print + Enamel Pin

Merch was also available for sale separately. As an early bird promotion, the first 50 physical bundle orders included a foil sticker of Zhongli. There was also a sharing campaign that added a sticker of Itto in a Crayon costume for all physical bundles once the post got 100 retweets.

There was a Lunar New Year flash sale for 22 buyers to get 10% off their order with code TIGERGUOBA. The zine Twitter account also hosted a digital zine giveaway during the preorder period. The zine also did a collaboration with Genshin Impact/Pokémon crossover zine Trainers of Teyvat, where if a person ordered a physical zine or bundle from both zines, they would receive an extra coloring page in their order, themed after the in-game holiday Moonchase and featuring Xiangling and Guoba with several Pokemon.

The project included three stretch goals: a pencil case, a color-by-number page, and a tote bag. Only the first stretch goal was achieved, on March 20, 2022, but the color-by-number page and a print of the tote bag design were produced.

By November 30, 2022, it was announced that 95% of orders had been packed and shipped, with the rest delayed on additional Itto stickers. Digital bundles were delivered February 12, 2023.
