Bucky/Tony/Steve, also known as Stuckony or WinterIronShield, is the polyamorous shipping of Steve Rogers (Captain America), Tony Stark (Iron Man) and Bucky Barnes (Winter Soldier) in the Marvel Comics and the Marvel Cinematic Universe fandoms.

Canon

Marvel Cinematic Universe

In the MCU Tony meets Bucky for the first time in Captain America: Civil War, while Steve and Bucky's relationship dates back to their childhood. The coexistence of the three is conflicted due to the recurring events to Civil War and the later ones.

Fandom

The shipping of Stuckony it predates the Civil War film, and can be tracked on sites like AO3 from 2012. Obviously with the release of the another chapter of franchise the number of works related to the ship grew exponentially, along with the opening of the challenge WinterIronShield Bang.

Common Themes in Fanworks

  • Using petnames (Steve - Sweetheart, Bucky - Doll), Tony calling Bucky and Steve his Brooklyn Boys
  • Bucky and Steve are competing for Tony's attention
  • Post-Captain America: Civil War: fics written after this film tired to resolve the conflict between the characters and find a way for them to be together
  • Mundane AU: setting where they have no superhuman powers, no armor, etc. These stories usually take place in a modern day setting and not the 1940's
  • Soulmate AU: where the three of them are fated to be together
  • Domestic AU: their everyday lives, with them in an established relationship
  • Comfort or Tony Stark Needs a Hug: often where Tony gets some much needed emotional support from Steve and Bucky, occasionally in traditional Hurt/Comfort scenarios
  • Threesome: their three way relationship is purely sexual
