The Civil War Meme is an internet meme usually showing Tony Stark, Captain America and the Captain America Civil War banner. It was used by fans to humorously depict fandom conflicts. There are early examples of the meme being used for non fandom conflicts, but it was quickly co-opted by fans. Notable examples involved Ship Wars, text would be placed next to an image of Tony and Cap each indicating a different ship, and then the Civil War banner. Occasionally there would be variants where a third Avenger is added to indicate other options.
