Bobby Drake is the alter ego of Iceman from the Marvel Comics series The X-Men. He generally appears as a main character in all the X-Men universes such as Marvel Comics: Earth-616, Ultimate X-Men, X-Men: Evolution, Wolverine and the X-Men, and X-Men Movieverse.
Canon
Bobby possesses the mutant ability of cryokinesis where he can freeze anything around him and can also turn his body into ice.
Bobby first appeared as in X-Men #1 (September 1963).
Comics
Bobby was the second member that joined the X-Men (which is often called the Original X-Men); due to this, he remains one of the more prominent members of the team and appears in various Alternate Universes (in one AU, a girl version of him exists).
In House of M, he was one of Apocalypse's Horsemen.
Movieverse
In the X-Men Movieverse, Bobby is portrayed by Shawn Ashmore. He is shown a student at the Xavier's school and to be best friends with John Allerdyce. He befriends Rogue in the first film and is shown to have a relationship with her in the second and third films. In X3, it is shown that he has some attraction with Kitty Pryde, almost kissing her despite being in a relationship with Rogue. He stays with Rogue in the end, after she takes the cure despite the fact that he didn't want her to take it. In X-Men: Days of Future Past, Bobby is shown to be in a relationship with Kitty in the Dystopia future, often being killed by Sentinels before being reset alive due to Kitty's powers sending Bishop back to warn them. In the fixed present, Bobby is shown to be still together with Rogue. In the RogueCut of the film, Bobby goes back to Cerebro with Magneto and Charles to save Rogue. He sacrifices himself in order to save Rogue.
X-Men: Evolution
Unlike the comics, Bobby wasn't part of the original X-Men team in X-Men: Evolution. Bobby was introduced in the second season, as part of the New Recruits and is considered their unofficial leader. Bobby was originally going to be the 8th X-Man, however he was rejected in favor of Spyke.[1] Bobby appears more often in the series after Spyke leaves the team. It's revealed in the series finale, in Xavier's vision of the future, Bobby becomes a full-fledged member of the X-Men team alongside Colossus and X-23.
Other Appearances
Bobby made his first animated appearance in an episode of The Sub-Mariner (in 1966). Bobby appears as a main character in the 1980s series Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends and in the Wolverine and the X-Men series. Bobby also appeared a few episodes of X-Men: The Animated Series and Super Hero Squad Show.

Most of early X-Men fandom considered Bobby Drake as closeted, often making slash more popular for the character. He was later revealed to be canonically gay in the comicsverse.[2]
Shipping
In Marvel/X-Men comics, popular pairings for Bobby are Northstar/Iceman (inspired by Northstar's crush on Bobby) and Gambit/Iceman. Other pairings include Iceman/Daken Akihiro, Iceman/Angel, Iceman/Bishop, Iceman/Shatterstar, Iceman/Wolverine and Iceman/Human Torch.
In X-Men: Evolution, a popular pairing for Bobby is with Jubilee. He's also sometimes shipped with the other New Recruits or with Pietro Maximoff.
In the X-Men Movieverse, the pairing Bobby/John Allerdyce became quite popular. The main het pairings in this universe for Bobby are with Rogue and with Kitty Pryde. A common threesome pairing is Iceman/Rogue/Pyro.
In Wolverine and the X-Men, a common Bobby pairing is with Kitty Pryde (which is hinted at in the actual series).
In Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends, Bobby is mainly paired up with Firestar.
