Johnny Storm is the alter ego of the Human Torch from the Marvel Comics series The Fantastic Four. He is the younger brother to Sue Storm, who is also part of the F4 team. He is considered to be the more fun, relaxed, flirtatious, and playful than the other F4 members, due to the fact that he is the only one that was not a scientist when they were exposed (and mutated) from exposure to cosmic radiation. This usually has him styled as a comic relief character in many stories.

Johnny, due to the cosmic radiation, has the power pyrokinesis which enables him to have flight as well.

Johnny is played by Chris Evans in the 2005 Fantastic Four film and its sequel Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Although not officially apart of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there is easter egg of his character in the movie Captain America: The First Avenger[1]. This is also a nod to Chris Evans due to the fact that he plays both characters.

Johnny is played by Michael B. Jordan in the 2015 reboot Fantistic Four Film. In the film Johnny and his father, Franklin Storm are African American, and he and Sue Storm are adopted siblings.

  • Due to the fact that Chris Evans plays Johnny Storm in the 2005 Fantastic Four films and Steve Rogers in Captain America/Avengers films, there is a general theme that if the Fantastic 4 is part of the MCU (despite the fact that canonically it isn't), Johnny and Steve look uncanny alike. Sometimes they are each other's look-a-like twin (with no blood ties between the two) or because they are somehow related to the other. It's usually used as a crack/joke in the fanfic work that deals with it.

Waking up in a stranger's bed is not how superhero Johnny Storm planned on spending the morning after the night before.

From now on…

A) No more secret hookups with Peter Parker—he's the last man on earth Johnny'd want to share a room with, never mind a king-size bed.

B) Maintain a professional persona at all times. After all, he's a photographer for New York's #1 Superhero Bashing Rag and Johnny's perfect tabloid fodder.

C) Keep friends close but enemies closer. Easier said than done, with She-Hulk away on her honeymoon and Spider-Man avoiding him.
