In the Marvel Cinematic Universe Maria Hill is portrayed by Cobie Smulders. First appearance for Maria in the MCU was in The Avengers (2012); she has also appeared in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Captain America: The Winter Soldier and The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Maria was dusted by Thanos in the post-credits scene of Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and resurrected in Avengers: Endgame (2019) where she was a guest at Tony Stark's funeral.

Maria Hill gained a lot of popularity with the Avengers film. Common pairings for Maria is with Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanov; however, she is still a fairly rare character, and has been eligible for the Rare Women fic exchange since its inception.
