The Hustle is an Agent Carter femslash fanfic by anamatics. The focus of the story is the non-canon Peggy Carter/Angie Martinelli relationship; as well as Angie's skill at pool, underground lesbian culture, queer themes, and Angie's familial relationships.
The Hustle was crossposted to both Archive of Our Own and Wattpad. The story is the first of an in-progress series, And to the Crux of Memory.
Author's Summary
"When Angie's cousin gambles with money that wasn't his to lose, he calls the only person he can think of to help him. Angie's not exactly keen on doing it, but she did teach him to shoot pool after all, she's certainly better than his sorry ass. Only problem is, Angie's not about to get her thumbs broken over some mobster's money."[1]

"This was my first foray into fanfiction on Wattpad, and as is often the case when trying something new it took me a while to get the lay of the land. Honestly I was starting to despair when I came across this amazing fic by Anamatics. I’m kind of obsessed with Agent Carter right now, and I’ve read some good fic in the fandom, but this was the first one that made me want to reach into the computer and hug the author. This story wonderfully delves into the psyche of a character that I desperately want to know more about – Angie Martinelli – and the way the author uses Angie’s story to touch on the horrors of homophobia at in the 1940s is fascinating. I could probably rave about this fic for weeks and I still wouldn’t do it justice. Just read it, okay."[2]
"However, with limited savings and no intention of being beholden to Howard Stark, there’s only one place she’s sure she can hustle up the money—a “women’s club”, basically, an old timey gay bar. (This is a not-so-subtle kick in the teeth to her cousin, who is deeply hateful of Angie’s lesbianness, and at fault for her own self-hatred.) Despite the locale, though, Peggy still wants to help her out. This means that we get to have my absolute favorite fanfiction trope of all time—fake dating—as a major part of this fanfic! I was worried at first that the “fake/pretend relationship” alluded to in the tags was Angie dating a guy as a cover, but nope, Peggy and Angie pretend to be together.
