Sinthea Schmidt is a Marvel Comics supervillian.
Canon
Sin first appeared in Captain America #290 (Feb 1984). Seeking an heir, the Red Skull fathered a daughter. He left her with a follower to be indoctrinated with Red Skull's views as she grew up.
Red Skull returned when Sinthea was a child and put her in a machine that had her aged into adulthood and gave her superhuman powers including telepathy, telekinesis, teleportation and intangibility. As Mother Superior, she became the leader of a group called the "Sisters of Sin", young orphan girls who were accelerated into adulthood and given psionic powers. Sin would have many run-ins with Captain America (Steve Rogers) before being de-aged and losing her powers.
Sometime later, she was captured by S.H.I.E.L.D. and taken to their reeducation facility where they reprogrammed her with false memories as "normal" American girl Erica Holstein. After the Red Skull was seemingly assassinated by the Winter Soldier, Crossbones broke into the facility, kidnapped Erica and tortured her to break her reprogramming. After he succeeded, she simply calls herself Sin while she entered into a relationship with him.
Fandom
Sinthea Schmidt is a fairly rare character in the Captain America and Marvel Comics fandom overall, for example there are less than 50 tagged works at AO3[1].
Despite the fact that Sinthea Schmidt has yet to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, she often appears in MCU related fanworks.
On Tumblr picspams and fancasts are fairly common, a few role-playing blogs exist. Fans mostly fancast Holland Roden and Deborah Ann Woll as Sin.
Fans have cosplayed the character.
Shipping
Sinthea Schmidt is generally paired up with Brock Rumlow[2] - both in the comics and the MCU (the later is probably influenced by the canon relationship in the comics). Sinthea has also been shipped with Darcy/Sif in the MCU, Bucky Barnes and Tony Stark in the comics.
