JARVIS is an artificial intelligence created by Tony Stark, the alter ego of Iron Man. The acronym stands for Just A Rather Very Intelligent System and was shaped by Tony to match the family name of his father's former butler, Edwin Jarvis. The almost omniscient AI runs Tony's various households and facilities, is responsible for the security systems, supports his creator at work, and also serves as the copilot of Iron Man.

Tony and JARVIS have a very close relationship that is sometimes bordering on the emotional, especially on Tony's side.
