Aoi Asahina is a student from Dangan Ronpa. She is a prominent character within the series and popular with fans. Asahina debuted in Dangan Ronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and survived The Mastermind's Killing Game, along with Makoto Naegi, Byakuya Togami, Kyoko Kirigiri, Toko Fukawa and Yasuhiro Hagakure. She also was a main character in Dangan Ronpa 3: End of Hope's Peak High School.
Canon Overview
Asahina loves playing sports. She was a member of six athletic clubs, including volleyball and track & field club. She had a younger brother named Yuta Asahina, and together, they loved swimming the most. Asahina is a very talented swimmer, at nearly an Olympian level, and its this skill that she was scouted for by Hope's Peak Academy to enroll in their specialty school. In Japanese, she is a Super High School Level Swimmer. In English, she is the Ultimate Swimming Pro.
She's very outgoing, and tends to follow emotions rather than logic. This makes her a great, loyal friend to have. She bonds particularly well with Sakura Oogami. Its this personality that makes her easily manipulated by assumptions and emotion during the Killing Game.
She has a love for donuts as well. Fanworks for her often feature them.
Asahina's birthday is April 24th. She shares this birthday with Mahiru Koizumi, another Dangan Ronpa character. In Japanese, fans may misspell her name as 朝“比”奈[1]. Both 比 and 日 sound the same, but have different meanings.
