Killing Game is a term from Dangan Ronpa to describe the situation most characters find themselves in due to Monokuma and whoever is controlling him.
Characters must get away with murder if they wish to escape either an enclosed location or an isolated island. They are given motives every couple of days to entice them further to kill one another. Each game has its own rule set and participants.
In Dangan Ronpa canon, there have been five "killing events." One in Dangan Ronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, another in Dangan Ronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, two in Dangan Ronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak High School, and finally once in Dangan Ronpa V3: Killing Harmony.
In fanworks, the Killing Game is a great source of Canon Divergence AUs and general angst. Fans may create killing games of their own in stories or animated medias, and these are called Fanganronpas. Fanganronpas often star a cast of Original Characters, and many prominent ones have inspired large communities of Recursive Fanworkers and recursive fanworks.
