Aoi Asahina is a prominent and popular character in the Dangan Ronpa series. She debuted in Dangan Ronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc and is also a main character in Dangan Ronpa 3: End of Hope's Peak High School.
In Japanese, fans may misspell her name as 朝“比”奈.[1] Both 比 and 日 sound the same, but have different meanings.
Canon Background
Asahina loves playing sports. She was a member of six athletic clubs, including volleyball and track & field club, before the events of the game. She also has a younger brother named Yuta Asahina, and together, they loved swimming. Because of her sheer skill, at nearly an Olympian level, she was scouted to attend Hope's Peak Academy. In Japanese, she is a Super High School Level Swimmer. In English, she is the Ultimate Swimming Pro.
She is very outgoing, and tends to follow emotions rather than logic. This makes her easily manipulated by assumptions and emotion during The Mastermind's Killing Game, which she survived along with Makoto Naegi, Byakuya Togami, Kyoko Kirigiri, Toko Fukawa and Yasuhiro Hagakure. Though her best friend Sakura Oogami did not.
Asahina's birthday is April 24th. She shares this birthday with Mahiru Koizumi, another Dangan Ronpa character. On Twitter and Pixiv, art tagged with #朝日奈葵生誕祭[year value] are commonly released on her birthday.
