Mahiru Koizumi is a student from Dangan Ronpa. She is a prominent character within the series and is popular with fans. Koizumi debuted in the second game of the series, Dangan Ronpa 2: Goodbye Despair, and she also was in Dangan Ronpa 3: End of Hope's Peak High School.

- Koizumi's most popular pairing is with Hiyoko Saionji, which is F/F, aka Girls' Love. In Japanese, this is most often called ひよまひ (Hiyomahi), meaning Saionji is the tachi and Koizumi is the neko in the coupling. During Goodbye Despair, Koizumi was one of the few other students Saionji considered worthy of truly being her friend. It is one of the most popular F/F relationships in all of Goodbye Despair fandom.
- Koizumi is also shipped with Hajime Hinata, which is F/M, aka NL. In Japanese, this is called ヒナコイ (Hinakoi), meaning Hinata attacks and Koizumi receives in the coupling. In Goodbye Despair's non-canonical Free Time Events, she has a crush on Hinata.
