Fanlore Advanced Editor Invitation

Hello, Quaelegit!

Thanks so much for all the contributions you've been making to the wiki. I tried contacting you by email but suspect that it didn't go through, so I'm reaching out here!

We wanted to extend the invitation for you to become an Advanced Editor on Fanlore, as we've been very impressed with the quality and variety of your edits. Fanlore Advanced Editors have special editing rights on the wiki, most importantly the ability to move and delete pages. You can learn more about Advanced Editors and what is involved in being one via our dedicated page on Fanlore.

If you would like to become an Advanced Editor, please let us know by replying to this message or by contacting us through the Fanlore committee contact form.

If you are interested in getting even more involved with Fanlore, you can also apply to our Gardener program. Gardeners are responsible for monitoring the wiki and keeping it free from spam, and answering occasional user queries. They are official Fanlore volunteers. You can learn more about the role and its permissions on this page.

Eskici
Fanlore Policy & Admin

Hi Eskici!
Sorry for missing the email, I don't check the email attached to this account very regularly. I am on the Fanlore Discord server though, with the same username, so that's the best way to contact me to get a fast response.
Anyways, I would be happy to become an Advanced Editor! I've already made a few requests to move pages when I made typos in new page titles, so it would be nice to be able to take care of that myself. I'm a little more wary of moving or deleting pages for other people, but I'll make sure to read talk pages thoroughly and ask for help if I'm not certain.
I've read the linked page about Gardeners, and I'll have to think more about whether I want to apply for that level of responsibility.
Thank you very much for sending this message here as well to get my attention! Quaelegit (talk) 07:32, 10 May 2022 (UTC)

Fanart vs official art

Just wondering, is there a new rule about using fanart for ship pages and not official? I'm not fighting it, just curious. Especially since you picked some good pieces. Sj2014 (talk) 14:53, 26 June 2022 (UTC)

Sj2014 there is no official rule (as far as I've seen) but I've been encouraged by Gardners to replace official art w/ fanart on other pages (e.g. here), so I've kind of made a habit of doing it on pages that catch my attention. I think enchantedsleeper said they'll be updating the Fanlore:Image Policy to reflect this position, but I don't see anything on the page yet. (I will say, that I'm not very informed on Fire Emblem as a game or fandom, so if you feel that the screenshots convey important info for the fanlore article, please feel free to change them back! We can always put the fanart I found in galleries on the pages' fanwork sections. I'm glad you liked the fanart though, I thought they were pretty neat too ^^) -- Quaelegit (talk) 00:02, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
Ah, I see. I'm fine with it either way, as long as the pages get an image! In fact, FE might be better off with fanart since we can't always find screenshots of every pairing. Sj2014 (talk) 13:30, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
Okay, i'll go and find more images for the rest of the FE ships we have pages for soon, i was having fun trawling Deviantart and Tumblr for examples :P -- Quaelegit (talk) 22:43, 27 June 2022 (UTC)

Reference Issue

Hi, I've noticed you've been making a lot of changes on pages lately, and most them are great. However, I've noticed that you keep changing archived fanwork links from {{source|url=url here|title=title here|archiveurl=archiveurl here}} to {{cite web|url=url here|title=title here|archiveurl=archive url here|archivedate=archive date here}}, the second option the "cite web" is great for quotes, etc and making sure that the info and their archived versions show up at the bottom of the page in the reference section, however, it is not good for listing fanwork examples and having the archive link show up beside them in the list. When you changed the "source|url" to "cite web" it caused red error codes to show up on the pages and I had to go in a reformat them. I know not everyone likes how "source|url" looks on the page, if you are one of those people another options is to have "fanwork link; archive link" as seen in the Meta section at the bottom of the Supernatural page for example. -- Kingstoken (talk) 10:19, 27 June 2022 (UTC)

I think you've confused me with someone else, I have never used {{cite web}} that I can remember and strongly prefer {{source}} to other ways of formatting backup links. I don't mind the warning and will try to follow your advice, but you should probably figure out who was actually breaking your pages so you can also make them aware of the issue. -- Quaelegit (talk) 22:42, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
Oh, I'm terribly sorry. I thought it was you, but when I look back at it again it seems to have been another user -- Kingstoken (talk) 23:21, 27 June 2022 (UTC)
No worries! --quae

Hi Quaelegit, here is some more birthday cake for creating a stub on YamatoCon, and finding several incorrectly-flagged stubs like Fanfic Es and Cinder Falls! Joanna R (talk) 05:17, 15 September 2022 (UTC)

Thank you, Joanna! I'm really enjoying the cake theme to this year's badges <3 -- Quaelegit (talk) 05:23, 15 September 2022 (UTC)
It’s very tasty, right! I personally always love cake, myself. It’s technically in honor of the OTW’s 15th anniversary! I just wish we were actually getting a personal cake lol, maybe I’ll have to bake one this weekend! Joanna R (talk) 07:23, 15 September 2022 (UTC)

Hi Quaelegit, thank you for de-stubbing the page on Ling Yao! He's such a fun character and so fun to see fan reactions to him. Enjoy this cupcake with a candle ^_^ -- Shiningpaperclip (talk) 19:25, 15 September 2022 (UTC)

Hi Quaelegit, thank you for going the extra mile and fixing so many links and typos and adding links to our stub pages. Here's your last badge. Congratulations!! --22:29, 22 September 2022 (UTC)

YES! I will admit I most of those edits specifically hoping to get this badge -- I *love* the frosting layers and many little candles, all of the designs are so good but I think this one's my favorite of the five -- so victory, like cake, is truly sweet :P Thanks to you and all the other gardeners and social media coordinators for making this challenge happen! -- Quaelegit (talk) 03:32, 23 September 2022 (UTC)

thanks for podficcer Page!

Hi Quae, thank you so much for the Sisi_rambles page! Podficcers in general are on my “eventually to-do” list; Harry Potter is a fandom in which I’ve listened to a lot of podfics, and sisi_rambles is one of my favorite podficcers. I’m so glad they have a substantive page on them! Joanna R (talk) 05:30, 20 September 2022 (UTC)

Glad to hear! To be honest I don't know much more about them than that I keep seeing their name pop up a lot when I go tag search, so I would welcome any additions you can add to their fanlore page! (And there's a few more podficcers that I have similar plans for, hopefully I'll get to them soon.) -- Quaelegit (talk) 22:07, 20 September 2022 (UTC)
Yes, to be honest I don’t know much more than “they record podfics and I like their voice!” Heh. I would highly recommend checking out their podfics! They have a pleasant British accent, and a light (I have no idea if that’s a helpful descriptor?) femme voice, and at least for Harry Potter, they record some fics that are very sweet. (I liked the examples you chose.) If I can think of anything, I’ll add it! Joanna R (talk) 16:33, 21 September 2022 (UTC)
