Lovejoy, officially abbreviated as LVJY, is a British indie rock band consisting of lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Will Gold, lead guitarist Joe Goldsmith, drummer Mark Boardman and bassist Ash Kabosu, founded in Brighton in 2021. They achieved viral Internet success in part due to their association with YouTube RPF and MCYT specifically through their frontman, who also produces video content under the stage name Wilbur Soot.[1]

The band is notable for having a close relationship with their fans, engaging with them to an extent not commonly seen in the music industry. The band likes to tease their fans with puzzles in particular.[1]

RPF based on Lovejoy is somewhat uncommon, with only 147 works on Archive of Our Own as of November 2023, though not entirely nonexistent. Fanworks are also often inspired by the songs themselves, as there are also canonical fandoms for "Sex Sells" and "Taunt" from the band's debut EP. The band is also frequently featured in Video Blogging RPF and sometimes inserted into SMP fanfiction, causing the members of the band, particularly Ash Kabosu, to have more works than the fandom tag itself. Around 43% of works tagged Lovejoy (Band) are also tagged Video Blogging RPF. The most common fandoms in crossover fic are Dream SMP (tagged on 39% of Lovejoy works), Minecraft (tagged on 14% of Lovejoy works), and QSMP (tagged on 8% of Lovejoy works).
