PeterMJ Week, previously known as Spideychelle Week is a fanweek, prompt based challenge in Spider-Man fandom, dedicated to all iterations of the pairing of MJ/Peter including the MCU version. Multiple types of fanworks are accepted, including fanfiction, moodboard, gif sets, fan art and other fan edits.
History & Name Change
The fanweek started as Spideychelle Week in 2019, focused only on the MCU version of PeterMJ. In 2024, it was announced that going forward it will be known as PeterMJ Week and will accept other versions of PeterMJ as well. The decision was made to combat racism against the MCU iteration of MJ.
Why change the name then? Isn’t that confusing?
Names matter. Names have meaning. No disrespect intended to the creators of the spideychelle name but intentionally separating MCU Peter and MJ away from every other version has only ever helped feed into and sustain the racism that fandom has had about her for years. MCU MJ is MJ and always has been. Why continue to help further that divide that still exists almost 7 years later?petermj-week [1]
