Marry Your Favorite Character Online, also referred to as MYFC Online, is a now-defunct website for generating fake digital marriage certificates for celebrities and fictional characters. It also had several social features, including journals, member groups, a message board, and a shoutbox on the homepage.
The website has been down since late 2021. The domain expired on August 6, 2021[1], but the Wayback Machine's last snapshot that shows the homepage is from September 19, 2021.
History
This article or section needs expansion. |
The site was made with a focus on celebrities and fictional characters from any kind of media, but it quickly developed a primarily anime-oriented userbase. Even as this userbase dwindled in numbers throughout the 2010s, this remained the case until 2018, when Tumblr users in cartoon fandoms joined the site and began using it in a semi-ironic way that's reflected in the Character of the Month results. This new wave of users was hostile towards Hazbin Hotel fans in particular, spamming the series page by adding incorrect character icons and characters from completely different media.
Statistics
Character of the Month
Starting in December of 2005, the website's homepage showed a Character of the Month voted on by users. Since users were allowed to create series categories with no restrictions, they submitted themselves and other users as characters, making this feature become a popularity contest for users with actual characters interspersed between until 2010. Usernames are redacted for retrospective privacy.
