Randym is a vidder and fan artist who began vidding and drawing in the late 1980s and continued through the late 1990s.

Her artwork and zine work won her one FanQ award and three Stiffie Awards.

She is one of the few vidders from the 1980s to have made the transition to digital vidding.

Randym, along with Carol McCoy, was very much a fan of the oft-maligned Blake's 7 character, Del Tarrant.

Comments by Randym

... the pitfalls of writing a romance involving a character you don’t understand or don’t like. It didn’t readily occur to me because I put just as much thought and effort into my videos as I do into my stories, if not more. But now that you mention it, other fannish videomakers have said that they find videomaking easy — something they do when they’re too tired to write. What I find hardest to do with characters I’m not wild about is illustrate them. Several people have commented that in my art Blake is not as attractive as the other characters, and they’re right. I don’t find him particularly attractive, physically or psychologically, and I’m afraid it shows in my illos. (Also, I rarely watch the 1st & 2nd series, so I’m not as familiar with the pre-'Star One' characters as I am with the later ones.) [1]

I must admit that at first I didn't care much for RANDYM's art style, however it's grown on me and now I find it quite striking. [2]

I don't believe I had seen any artwork by RANDYM before and I've been missing a lot. Very impressive. I like the style. [3]

I enjoyed your review of Leigh's videos very much. It was interesting to see how different your taste is from mine. I really liked the "Mr. Tambourine Man" vid and it's not just a generation-gap thing, since previously I had always hated that particular song. (Though I admit, I listened to a lot of Dylan in college, like everyone else I knew. We all thought the lyrics were about us personally. Him and the Beatles, in depressed moods. I still sometimes think of myself as Sexy Sadie: "You broke the rules... You laid it down for all to see... Sexy Sadie, oh-oh, what have you done?") I love "I Was Only Kidding." So shamelessly wicked. And I always crack up laughing at "Yakkety Yak." The point where Vila slams his glass down is where I usually start laughing out loud. You didn't mention my two favorites of the serious ones: the Tarrant weepie, "Show Me the Way," and my very top favorite, "Sailing," which eluki bes shahar described as being about the entire crew's romance with Death. I used to be able to cry over these when I was in the mood, though now I've watched them so much that the effect has somewhat worn off. [4]
