Doreen Green is the alter ego of Squirrel Girl, a superhero appearing in various Marvel Comics and Marvel YA novels. In 2015, she received her first comic book series, The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl.
Canon
Doreen first appeared in Marvel Super-Heroes Vol. 2 #8 (Winter 1991). Her superpowers include superhuman agility, senses, and strength, prehensile tail, razor-sharp claws, retractable knuckle spikes, and ability to communicate with squirrels.
Since a a genetic anomaly allows her to communicate with squirrels, she is always accompanied by one or more squirrels, two of which, Monkey Joe and later, his successor Tippy-Toe, turn into regular, sidekick-style companions. Just like Doreen, they become full members of the Great Lakes Avengers.
Doreen has made appearances in other media including the television series: Fantastic Four: World's Greatest Heroes and Ultimate Spider-Man. She's appeared in various video games, and she makes her first film appearance in Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors.
