Pam Rose was a long-time fan writer, vidder, zine editor and publisher and convention organizer, a BNF for twenty years or more, from the '70s through the '90s.
She was a prolific Trek and K/S writer. She a co-editor of the Out of Bounds series of K/S zines in the early 1980s (she took out a $400 loan from her credit union for the first issue of Out of Bounds when preorders didn't cover the printing bill), and wrote the novel Paradises, Found and Lost (1982), a slash version of Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan, that appeared in Out of Bounds, Old Friend.
Rose was a member of W.H.I.P.S., a fan group.
Rose passed away in late March 2021.

She was a member of the W.H.I.P.S., also called the Houston Crowd. Pam Rose was on the concom of the first unabashed con held just for K/S (i.e., slash) fans: IDICon, which was held in Houston throughout the mid-'80s.
RPS Pioneer
In the late seventies, along with co-author Nancy Arena, she created a Led Zeppelin RPS au pairing called Tris/Alex. Tris and Alex were Jimmy and Robert with some changes: the main characters' names, of course, plus important details of their backstory were altered. Their universe caught on, and more Led Zeppelin fans wrote Tris/Alex than wrote Jimmy/Robert (though of course much of that was due to the community restrictions against writing open RPS at the time). She also collaborated on Led Zeppelin RPS vids.
Fan Writer
When Pam moved to Starsky & Hutch, she wrote for and co-edited the first ever slash Starsky & Hutch zine, Trace Elements.
She was incredibly prolific in Professionals fandom. She wrote both for the Circuit library and for zines; many of her stories and novels were originally published by Manacles Press. Her Professionals' novels are now available in the Professionals Circuit Archive
At a time when it was common to stay a K/S or Pros fan for 10-20 years, she was known for flitting from one fandom to another. Along with Trek, Starsky & Hutch and Pros, she also wrote in Blake's 7, Homicide: Life on the Street, due South and other fandoms of the '80s and '90s.
Pam was one of many fan writers who became annoyed at the large amounts of money some fan artists made. At the 1986 IDICon, she drew a stick figure and put it in the art auction, with a note that promised to write whatever story the highest bidder wanted. The result was Arabian Nights.
