Pym infamously slapped his wife, Janet, during some emotional outburst. This incident of domestic violence has disturbed many Marvel fans, and has been a major part of Hank's reputation since. However, some fans feel that there is a double-standard in play, given that other comic book heroes have committed even worse acts of abuse without those incidents becoming so ingrained as core parts of their reputations.
