10 part, Gen, 9/29/97.
Our favorite FBI agents take an unexpected trip to the Colorado Rockies in search of an elusive group Mulder, among others, can't wait to track down. Lots of Muldertorture.

Best Author

Winner: Nicole Perry

  • Road Story Introduction and Summary
1 part, Gen, 1/6/97.
This note basically serves as an introduction to the next installment of the Road Series, which is my attempt to solve the mystery of what-the-hell-happened-to-Scully-while-she-was-missing-for-three-months.
  • A Divided Highway
16 part, Gen, 1/13/97.
(The Road Series 5) This story is the latest installment in the Road Series that includes "Goin' Nowhere", "Passing Through", "At The Blue Hotel", and "Down The Tracks", all of which can be found on the various archives -- or e-mail the author.

Runner Up: Sue Esty

1 part, Gen, 10/26/96.
Dana visits the hospital in Providence on Mulder's birthday. Rated G, just a little UST and nice vibes. SEASON IV SPOILER ALERT!!
1 part, MSR, 12/7/96.
A 'Field Where I Died' vignette. (Yes, ANOTHER one and though there will be similarities with some of the others - of which there are about two dozen I'm told - I think there is something different here.) Angst, metaphysics and - eventually - shameless romance.
2 part, MSR, 2/17/97.
Time approximate, shortly after Paperclip. Mulder and Scully come to Las Vegas on a case that quickly turns out not to be an X-file. A little night on the town follows, a little M/S, a little third party voyeurism, a good dash of Mulderangst and actually a very sweet little story.
1 part, Gen, 5/10/97.
Two fingers of scotch on a rainy night... Mulder and Scully muse, not entirely happily, over the marriage of a 'friend'.
  • Carnival Light, Carnival Dark
4 part, NC17, 10/11/97.
Lying in pain a decontamination unit, Mulder remembers a day which was very special to a certain 15-year-old - a time of a different kind of pain, and anger, and marvelous discovery. NC17 for adult content, situations.
8 part, MSR, 10/28/96.
(All Hallow's Eve II) Mulder and Scully return to the Halloween bonfire dance they visited in 1995 and run up against a very menacing figure. Bad things happen after that. (This is a Windsinger story, what do you expect?)
13 part, MSR, 4/7/97.
(All Hallow's Eve III) Mulder and Scully with the help of friends make a break for freedom. To get a handle on this weird situation and all of the cast of characters you need to have read *All Hallow's Eve II: Extreme Unction fairly recently.
1 part, MSR, 3/23/97.
Dana tries to buy Mulder a Christmas present but something is very, very, VERY wrong here.

Most Carter-esque/Best Relationship

Skinner, Mulder and Scully attempt to take control of their lives as they conspire against the Consortium in an all-or-nothing gamble.
15 part, Gen, 1/13/97.

Best Comedy and/or Parody

23 part, MSR, 12/9/96.
This is a companion story to the story "Yes Sir, That's My Baby." by Michelle Hiley. When Michelle first posted it, back in April 96, Vickie, who had been one of the first people to read it, remarked that there was a lot more to it, and she would like to see the story told again, more fully, filling in the gaps Michelle had had to leave. Michelle liked the idea, and asked if she'd co-author. Vickie agreed and this is the result.
1 part, Gen, 1/18/97.
Pendrell requests Mulder's aid in attaining Scully's affections.

Best Crossover

4 part, NC17, 5/21/97.
X-Files/Quantum Leap X-over.
8 part, Gen, 1/8/97.
This is a Sliders/X-Files crossover story. In an alternate universe, Mulder gets a tip on a vortex sighting in Butts County, Georgia which may hold the clue to four missing persons from San Francisco. No sex, no romance, some violence and a few naughty words. Light on UST, but Mulder angst aplenty.

Best Drama

3 part, MSR, 6/5/97.
(Divided We Fall prequel) A prequel to "Divided We Fall", depicting Scully's friend Cece's first visit to DC and her encounter with Mulder. But despite the way it sounds, this is *not* a Mulder/other story.
6 part, Adult, 4/28/97.
DSM-IV, 300.13, defines "fugue" as "travel in foreign lands, often under an assumed identity.

Best Erotica (NC17/Slash)

1 part, NC17, 11/9/96.
Mulder, alone in his apartment on a rare and rainy day off, gets a surprisingly welcome phone call at an inopportune moment. M/S Romance. NC-17 for adult situations and language.
  • The Sweet Smell of X-Cess by Exxed
