UHC is a Minecraft minigame. It was invented by VintageBeef and Guude in 2012.[1] Its core feature is that players do not automatically regenerate health, instead they must heal with golden apples or potions.
History
The first UHC was played by Mindcrack members and its recording was posted on YouTube starting February 22, 2012 under the name MindCrack Ultra Hardcore.[2] The participants Guude, PauseUnpause, VintageBeef, and W92Baj cooperatively tried to kill the Enderdragon, which is the end boss of Minecraft.
Despite the first UHC playthrough being cooperative, the minigame is usually played competitively solo or in teams, with the goal to survive the longest.[3]
