Furina is a five star Hydro character from Genshin Impact. She is the Hydro Archon, and rules over Fontaine.

Canon

Furina is described by Nahida as having an "interesting personality." She is haughty, smug, and treats court trials as if it's a play. This is all an act, however, as she is taking the prophecy seriously, and is trying everything she could to stop it from occurring.

In truth, she is the human aspect of Focalors, who had split herself in two in order to save Fontaine from the prophecy. For that end, she cursed Furina to be immortal as long as the other half, her divinity, still lives, then instructed her to be the Hydro Archon.

After her Character Quest, she gains a vision and became an allogene.

Fandom

When she was introduced, some fans hated her for her bratty personality. However, after the 4.2 update reveals that she endured a curse for these past 500 years in order to save her people, people started to take a liking towards her for her determination.

There's discourse about some fans seeing Furina as Focalors' daughter instead of the human side of herself. The controversy extends to shipping her with Neuvillette, as some fans see Furina as Focalors and Neuvillette's daughter.
