I think this needs to be in the Template namespace to work (I'm trying it out on the Joss Whedon page and it's coming up red linked.--Ari 20:15, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Can I fix that, or does it take a Gardener?--Elfwreck 20:25, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Nah, just ask a gardener to change the name to Template:PersonProfile. That'll do it.--Seperis 20:29, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Hope that's what you needed done? Just passing through, quickly.--anatsuno 20:57, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Yep! Thanks a bunch. --Ari 21:21, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Can this be changed to automatically add the people category? It doesn't seem to now. --Kyuuketsukirui 12:16, 17 October 2008 (UTC)

Is this the right template for RPS people? Either way, it would be good to say on the page. --msilverstar 05:10, 16 March 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the changes, User:Aethel! --msilverstar 21:34, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

proposed usage section changes

The sections's a little conversational now, I'd like to make it more direct, and give lots of examples. It was hard to find non-fan fans!

Usage

This template is for people who have influenced or affected fandom. (For pages about fans, use Fan Profile).

Use this template for:

  • Writers, artists, musicians, actors, directors and anyone who creates the things we are fannish about. Examples include J. K. Rowling and Joss Whedon.
  • This includes actors, musicians and others who are written as RPF characters, such as Viggo Mortensen.

For pages about fans being fannish, use Fan Profile. A good rule of thumb: if you want to mention multiple fandoms, the Fan Profile template is usually appropriate.

Anyone hate it? Y/N/M? ---msilverstar 22:08, 16 July 2010 (UTC)

I like it. I added your change to the usage section and unprotected the template, in case you or someone else wants to make further changes in wording.--æthel 22:27, 16 July 2010 (UTC)
Yay! I really wanted to ask permission rather than forgiveness on this one. And I'm really proud of my rule of thumb (fans are likely to be in more than one fandom) (except me). --msilverstar 01:31, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
Looking at it again, I realized Sarah Rees Brennan doesn't have a Fanlore page. How about Lois McMaster Bujold instead?--æthel 01:51, 17 July 2010 (UTC)
Much better, I simply couldn't find one. Naomi Novik and Cassandra Claire are still very much tied into fandom as such.

Values for 'medium'?

Do we have a standard set of values for the medium field? print / film / song? --msilverstar 04:45, 4 June 2012 (UTC)

Second Template

Someone added a second template, and I have to admit can't see the difference. Can others take a look at this? Does this edit need to be reversed? -- Kingstoken (talk) 17:07, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

I think it should be reversed -- looks like it was just a mistake paste or something. Hoopla (talk) 18:10, 20 April 2021 (UTC)

Request: Pronouns Field

Any chance that an optional "pronouns" field could be added to this template? I've run into an awkward situation a couple of times where I want to state a person's pronouns to avoid misgendering or confusion (e.g., Verity Ritchie who uses both they/them and she/her pronouns) but there's no intuitive place in the template for me to put that information. (At least on character pages the infobox has an "other" field I've been able to stick it in, though that's not ideal either imo.) --Malcontent (talk) 01:38, 9 December 2023 (UTC)

Adding the attention gardeners flag so that hopefully more editors will see this proposal. I would be in favour of this change --Auntags (talk) 22:30, 14 December 2023 (UTC)
I also agree with this, I don't see any reason why adding a pronoun field would be an issue to the template. Patchlamb (talk) 19:40, 25 February 2024 (UTC)
Bumping this discussion — I also agree! Will implement in the next few weeks if there are no objections. - Castille (talk) 01:10, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
