Elves are a fictional humanoid species commonly found the fantasy genre. They are often depicted as slim, delicate, graceful creatures with pointed ears and long hair. They are often portrayed as having an affinity with nature and/or magic. Many canon sources feature this type of elf. They draw from older traditions in mythology and folklore, in which elves are typically small, mischievous creatures.
Elf AU is subgenere of alternate universe fanworks in which non-elvish characters are re-imagined as elves.
