Gold is a Pokémon Trainer and Breeder from Pokémon Special. He is based off of Ethan from Pokémon Gold and Silver, as was his Female counterpart Crystal and his rival Silver.
Jimmy, his PokéAni counterpart, and Ethan, his Gameverse counterpart, are distinct enough characters that they won't be discussed here.
Gold is popular with fans and the focus of many fanworks. The Pokémon he is most associated with are Aipom, Politoed and Typhlosion.

Relationships
- Gold is most commonly paired up with Silver, forming PreciousMetalShipping[1], which is M/M, aka Boys' Love. In Japanese, this is most often called ゴシル, meaning Gold attacks and Silver receives in the coupling. It had its own page on Bulbapedia, seen here, Archived version. The opposite is also commonly shipped and is written as シルゴ.
- In Japanese, ライ主♂, which refers to any Male!Protagonist x Rival pairing except PokéAni, includes both ships under its umbrella.
- Gold is also shipped with Crystal, forming MangaQuestShipping, which is F/M, aka NL. In Japanese, this is called ゴークリ, meaning Gold attacks and Crystal receives in the coupling. It had its own page on Bulbapedia, seen here, Archived version.
- Gold is also shipped with Red, forming PoliShipping, which is M/M, aka Boys' Love. In Japanese, this is most often called レゴー, meaning Red attacks and Gold receives in the coupling.
- Gold & Red is also a common gen (combi in Japanese) relationship of theirs, dubbed シロガネ師弟 in Japanese, meaning Shirogane Master and Disciple.
- Gold is also shipped with Green Oak, forming ImperialShipping, which is M/M, aka Boys' Love. In Japanese, this is most often called [x].
- Together, Gold, Silver, Crystal make up the Johto Trio.
- In Japanese, their gen (combi in Japanese) relationship is called ジョウトリオ, meaning Johto Trio. This is not to be confused with 城都トリオ, which is this same group but for the Gameverse. ジョウト組 may also be used, though that just translates as Johto Group, so it includes any large group of Johto characters.
