Brendan is a Pokémon Trainer and a playable character from Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. He is popular with fans, though not as much as his Female counterpart May. He also makes appearances in Pokémon Masters. While he does have a counterpart in Pokéspe named Ruby, this character is distinct enough for his own article.
Unlike Red and Gold, he never had a fanon personal name, since he was named Brendan in-game when Ruby and Sapphire released in 2002. This set a trend that all future releases in the main-line Pokemon series followed, and made it easier for fans to discuss him online. Fans may call him Ruby, but this was no issue.
The Pokemon he is most associated with is the Treecko line, including Grovyle and Sceptile.
