Bulbapedia is a Pokémon wiki run by Bulbagarden. It is part of Encyclopædiæ Pokémonis, a network of open-content Pokémon encyclopedias in different languages, and the Nintendo Independent Wiki Alliance, a group of open-content encyclopedias based on Nintendo franchises.
History
Bulbapedia was created by Zhen Lin in December 2004. It was originally open only to members of the Bulbagarden community, but went public on February 14, 2005.[2]
Scope
Bulbapedia aims to "[offer] information on every aspect of the Pokémon franchise,"[2] primarily canon from the Pokémon video games, anime, and mangas. It does, however, document aspects of the Pokémon fandom as well, and has "projects" to coordinate information on both general fandom and shipping.
Project Fandom
Project Shipping
Bulbapedia previously had articles for over a hundred ships in a separate "Shipping" namespace, but in 2021 the wiki "underwent a large overhaul as discussed by the Editorial Board" and deleted all but three articles deemed to "have had effects on the fandom that transcend the base anime"(PokéShipping, RocketShipping, and AmourShipping).[3] Other articles were merged into List of major anime ships and List of major manga ships.
