Characters

A point of major confusion is that a male trainer known as Green Oak (オーキド・グリーン Green Okido) in the original Japanese and in East Asian countries, has his name localized as Blue in Western countries; the female trainer originally known as Blue (ブルー) has her name localized as Green in most Western countries.

  • Red (レッド ) — Trainer.
  • Green Oak (オーキド・グリーン Green Okido), known in Western localizations as Blue Oak — The grandson of Pallet Town's local professor.
  • Blue (ブルー), known in Western localizations as Green — A thief. Blue was originally based on a female character who appeared as a trainer alongside Red and Green in promotional art for the original Pokémon games, but did not appear in the games themselves. Leaf, who later debuted in the 2004 Pokémon: FireRed and LeafGreen games, is considered to be her gameverse counterpart.
  • Yellow, also known as Amarillo del Bosque Verde (Japanese: イエロー・デ・トキワグローブ Yellow de Tokiwa Grove) — Blue initially disguised Yellow as a boy for traveling alone, but Yellow later revealed herself as a girl. Yellow does not have a gameverse counterpart.
