Lance is a member of the Indigo League's Elite Four from Pokémon Red and Blue. He is a fan favorite and the focus of many fanworks. He also makes appearances in Pokémon Gold and Silver, Pokémon Masters, PokéAni and Pokéspe.
The Pokémon Lance is most associated with is by far is his Dragonite.
In Japanese, Proton has the name 'Lance', so the two may be confused for one another. It's for this reason that their ship is called LanceShipping[1] in English-speaking Pokémon fandom.
