Relationships

Lance is very popular for self-shipping and yumejoshi. This is more common than any one canonical character relationship featuring him.

Gen | Combi

  • Lance's most popular relationship his gen (combi in Japanese) one with his cousin Clair. This has no name in English and is often just tagged as Clair & Lance.
    • Their romantic interpretation, dubbed BlackthornShipping, is also common. In Japanese, this is called ワタイブ (Wataibu).
  • In works for gameverse!Silver, Lance is often considered to be his adoptive father and there for him when his biological father, Giovanni, is not. Lance & Silver is a great dynamic for both characters in this regard and has its own dedicated following. This is not to be confused with AkaiShipping, their romantic interpretation.
  • In works for Ethan, and very occasionally Kris or Lyra, Lance may play a major role in them becoming the Pokémon Champion of the Indigo League.
