Iris is a Pokémon Gym Leader from Pokémon Black and White. She leads Opelucid City's gym with Drayden. In their sequels, Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, she is the Pokémon champion. In the PokéAni, she was one of Ash Ketchum's traveling companions throughout the Unova series, along with Cilan. This article will focus primarily on her PokéAni interpretation.
The Pokémon she is most associated with are Axew, Dragonite, Emolga, Excadrill and Gible.

One of the most popular ships for Iris is NegaiShipping (Ash/Iris), which gained some support even before the anime series aired. However, NegaiShippers receive much opposition from PokéShippers, AdvanceShippers, and PearlShippers, who resent Iris for taking their respective character's place as Ash's female traveling companion.
