Cilan is a Pokémon Gym Leader from Pokémon Black and White. He leads Striaton City's gym with his two brothers Cress and Chili. In the PokéAni, he was one of Ash Ketchum's traveling companions throughout the Unova series, along with Iris. This article will focus primarily on his PokéAni interpretation.
The Pokémon he is most associated with are Pansage and its evolution Simisage, Dwebble, Crustle and Stunfisk.

Cilan, Member of the Shadow Triad?
It was a popular theory before the release of Pokémon Black 2 and White 2 that Cilan, along with his brothers, were actually members of the Shadow Triad. The triad is a trio of masked characters who are loyal to Ghetsis above all, and are uncharacterized otherwise.
Although B2W2 debunked the theory, it is still popular for fanworks to delve into the idea further and how such a drastic twist could've effected the gym leader trio.
