Barry is a Pokémon Trainer from Pokémon Diamond and Pearl. He's the rival to the player character, which may be Lucas or Dawn depending on gender. Barry is well-liked with fans, though not too many fanworks exist which primarily focus on him. He also makes appearances in Pokémon Masters. While he does have a counterpart in Pokéspe named Pearl, this character is distinct enough for his own article.
Until Masters, the name "Barry" for his Gameverse counterpart was only semi-canonical. Barry was his name in the Pokémon Anime, and most fans called him this for years as a fanon personal name since it was also one of the predetermined options the player could pick in the games. Many years after DPP came out, it was discovered the internal data of Diamond and Peal refer to him as Cedric, a name not seen elsewhere and not one fans use[1]. In Japanese, "Cedric" is パール (Pearl) instead, a name reserved by fans for his manga counterpart.
