Ghetsis is the true leader of Team Plasma from Pokémon Black and White. Team Plasma is the fifth of many evil teams in the Pokémon series who aim to generally be evil. In Team Plasma's case, it is a piracy organization under the guise of an animal rights group, with the goal of "liberating" Pokémon from their trainers.

Ghetsis also makes appearances in Pokémon Masters, PokéAni, Pokéspe and Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon, always as a villainous character. He is a fan favorite, though not too many fanworks exist which primarily focus on him. The Pokémon he is most associated with are Hydreigon and Cofagrigus.

  • Ghetsis is also shipped with Giovanni, forming TerribleDadShipping. While it doesn't appear to be shipped in Japanese-speaking PKMN fandom, it has a loyal following in English-speaking PKMN fandom.
  • Ghetsis is also shipped with his son N, forming HarmoniaShipping, aka CoronationShipping. In Japanese, this is most often called ゲーN (Gē N), meaning Ghetsis is the seme and N is the uke in the coupling.

    • ゲー主♀ is another way of writing it, meaning Ghetsis x Female Protagonist.
    • 悪主♀, meaning Pokémon Villian x Female Protagonist, also works.
    • These also double as Ghetsis x Rosa's ship name, which isn't named in the Neverending Romance spreadsheet as of 2025.

Denn~is! Denn~is! Denn~is! Denn~is!

In Ghetsis's boss theme, there's a chorus saying his name in Japanese, G-Cis. Due to the limitations of the Nintendo DS, this chorus was not very clear to players. Many English-speaking fans misheard it as "Dennis," though not out of believing that name was actually said. In the fandom, fans often joke that Ghetsis's name is actually Dennis and may call him that on occasion.
