Ghetsis/Giovanni, known mostly as TerribleDadShipping, GioGhet and/or ゲーチス (Gēsaka), is a common ship in the Pokémon fandom. It pairs Ghetsis (G-Cis) and Giovanni (Sakaki), the leader of the villainous Team Plasma and the leader of the villainous Team Rocket respectively. Giovanni was introduced first, in Pokémon Red, Blue and Yellow, while Ghetsis was introduced in Pokémon Black and White.

Canon Background

Popular Tropes & Fanon

  • Height Difference: Ghetsis is taller, Giovanni is shorter.
  • N and Silver: as their English ship name implies, both characters are canonically fathers. N is Ghetsis' son while Silver is Giovanni's. The two may become step-brothers and bond over having fathers that neglect them.
  • Sister Ships: the pairing may be complemented with Colress/Ghetsis. Poly is rare but not unheard of.

-Shipping Name Origin

The first name coined for the pairing was BaddabingBaddaboomShipping, sometime between 10 September[Notes 1] 31 October 2010[Notes 2] for the Neverending Romance ship name list. The pairing was very obscure at this time, with little to no fan activity for it until the two were in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon in 2017. "TerribleDadShipping" was coined without knowledge of the name by huggableduck[1], one of the first people to ship them post-USUM. When told that BaddabingBaddaboom was considered official on the list, it was disliked by most shippers around this time.[2][3] TerribleDad was widely adopted in around early 2018, though BaddabingBaddaboom is used by some since it doesn't play on the idea that either are terrible dads.
