Usage of the term Golden Trio in various fandoms:

• Harry Potter: Harry, Ron, and Hermione (canonically friendship and usually gen in fanworks). See Golden Trio
  • and then there's a silver trio and bronze trio. (e.g. this post claims Silver Trio = Draco Malfoy, Pansy Parkinson, Blaise Zabini; Bronze Trio = Neville, Luna, Ginny. Idk if that's broadly agreed upon across the HP fandom though or if there are multiple different character groupings called "Silver Trio" and "Bronze Trio")
• FMA: Ed, Al, Winry (canonically neighbors and childhood friends. EdWin is canon in mangahood. I think i've seen some polyfics, but like, two ever, it's really rare.)
